Our Staff & Board

Director

Carlye - Executive Director

Welcome! I am Carlye Teel the Director of the Ballard NW Senior Center. I have been the Director here for over 30 years and I love what I do.

Everyday provides an opportunity to help, make a difference, learn and connect with the wonderful people that come to this warm, friendly and caring center. I love working with my fine staff, all the fantastic volunteers, the participants, community and everyone that helps to make this center such a terrific place.

I am a recent widow, have 2 wonderful children and 4 fantastic grand kids all of whom are the pride and joy of my life. I enjoy traveling, wish I had time to do more, being with family and friends, reading, golf, being involved in the community and with my Rotary Club and other volunteer activities.

I look forward to meeting you, please come and see what this center is all about. I am delighted to have you visit the Ballard NW Senior Center website.

Coffee with Carlye

Coffee with Carlye
Thursday, June 23, 2016
The center is such a busy place and we all get caught up in our work, activities, volunteering, and on it goes.  So, I truly value Coffee with Carlye times.  I enjoy hearing your good ideas or concerns, and I have the opportunity to let you know about center activities and plans.  Please join me for coffee and a cookie on June 23rd at 11:00am.

Administrative Assistant

Kristina - Administrative Assistant

Welcome to the best Senior Center in town! My name is Kristina Webberley. I first got introduced to the Ballard NW Senior Center through my volunteer work, and when I found out that there was an opening in my field as an Administrative Assistant I applied immediately. That was more than six years ago and I still love working here.

I have worked simultaneously as an Administrative Assistant and Accountant for three companies since I graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Accounting back in 2008. My co-workers, the volunteers, and the wonderful people who attend the Center, make every work day fantastic. I grew up in Ballard and I am proud that my career is helping to make it a better place to live. Recently I adopted a beautiful cat named Tigger and a fish named Alfie.

Program Coordinator

Lauren - Program Coordinator

Bob, Nutrition Manager

As the new Program Coordinator for Ballard Northwest Senior Center, I'm elated to say that I've never had a job where I get paid for laughing every day!

After fourteen years of working as a road warrior for a textbook publishing company traveling throughout Washington and Oregon, I look forward to my five minute commute to work and being home each night for dinner .

Here’s a little bit about who I am.

Growing up in Maine I was very close to my Grandmother. She taught me how to bake, how to sew, how to find natural herbs in the woods and, in general, about life. She also taught me about some of the hard realities of life, like competition. We played Scrabble all the time – and I never once beat her. Her sense of humor, her wit and her inner strength helped to mold who I am today.

I’m so looking forward to immersing myself into my new position and becoming part of the Ballard Northwest Senior Center’s Family!

Social Worker

Melissa- Social Worker

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you.  My name is Melissa, as you may have heard, I was hired as the new Social Worker for Ballard Senior Center.  I immensely enjoy working with seniors and have done so for over 14 years.  I have lived in Seattle for 25 years and have an 11-year-old daughter who someday will entertain you by tap dancing to “Chattanooga Choo Choo”.  I’m delighted to be working at Ballard Senior Center and look forward to meeting everyone in person. I will work tirelessly to connect you to community resources, coordinate care, and (if need be) find new support systems.  I can help you with transitions, finding housing, applying for benefits and assist you in finding new sources of enjoyment.  You can use me simply to bounce ideas off of or more importantly to lean on in times of emotional distress. Please feel free to set up an appointment with the front desk, should you need to reach me. Also, the support groups have all resumed and I hope to see some of you there!  I welcome your ideas and suggestions. Warmest Regards.
