Our Staff & Board

Director

Carlye - Executive Director

Welcome! I am Carlye Teel the Director of the Ballard NW Senior Center. I have been the Director here for over 30 years and I love what I do. Everyday provides an opportunity to help, make a difference, learn and connect with the wonderful people that come to this warm, friendly and caring center. I love working with my fine staff, all the fantastic volunteers, the participants, community and everyone that helps to make this center such a terrific place. I am a recent widow, have 2 wonderful children and 4 fantastic grand kids all of whom are the pride and joy of my life. I enjoy traveling, wish I had time to do more, being with family and friends, reading, golf, being involved in the community and with my Rotary Club and other volunteer activities. I look forward to meeting you, please come and see what this center is all about. I am delighted to have you visit the Ballard NW Senior Center website.

Administrative Assistant

Kristina - Administrative Assistant

Welcome to the best Senior Center in town! My name is Kristina Webberley. I first got introduced to the Ballard NW Senior Center through my volunteer work, and when I found out that there was an opening for an Administrative Assistant I applied immediately. That was more than five years ago and I still love working here.

I have worked simultaneously as an Administrative Assistant and Accountant for three companies since I graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Accounting back in 2008. My co-workers, the volunteers, and the wonderful people, who attend the Center, make every work day fantastic. I grew up in Ballard and I am proud that my career is helping to make it a better place to live. Recently I adopted a beautiful cat named Tigger and a fish named Alfie.

Program Coordinator

Lauren - Program Coordinator

Bob, Nutrition Manager

As the new Program Coordinator for Ballard Northwest Senior Center, I'm elated to say that I've never had a job where I get paid for laughing every day!

After fourteen years of working as a road warrior for a textbook publishing company traveling throughout Washington and Oregon, I look forward to my five minute commute to work and being home each night for dinner .

Here’s a little bit about who I am.

Growing up in Maine I was very close to my Grandmother. She taught me how to bake, how to sew, how to find natural herbs in the woods and, in general, about life. She also taught me about some of the hard realities of life, like competition. We played Scrabble all the time – and I never once beat her. Her sense of humor, her wit and her inner strength helped to mold who I am today.

I’m so looking forward to immersing myself into my new position and becoming part of the Ballard Northwest Senior Center’s Family!

Social Worker

Jeanese - Social Worker

We are sad to be losing Social Worker Jeanese. She did a fantastic job while she was with us and she will be missed. We are happy for her that she will have a full time position helping the homeless and seniors who have significant mental illness and clinical dependency issues. This is her passion.

From Jeanese:
“Hello everyone! I wanted to have a chance to say goodbye to you all as I am leaving the center to pursue a passion of mine. I was so warmly welcomed here and have met so many wonderful people that I will miss. This was not an easy decision to make because this center is truly an amazing place. Carlye is working hard to find you a new social worker as soon as possible. They will be lucky to be here! I wish you all the best.” - Jeanese

Update: The job announcement has been posted, resumes are coming in, interviews will be scheduled in February. My guess is the new social worker will start in March. I’ll keep you posted.
